200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh, India

Yoga Alliance Certified · RYT 200

If something has been quietly calling you toward yoga — not just to practise it, but to understand it deeply and one day share it — this is a good place to begin.

The 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh at Rishikul Yogshala is a Yoga Alliance USA-certified program that qualifies you to register as an RYT 200 Certified Yoga Teacher worldwide. Running every month in the yoga capital of the world, this is a 23-day residential course covering Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga Vinyasa, Pranayama, Meditation, Yoga Philosophy, Anatomy, and Teaching Methodology — everything you need to build a strong, confident foundation as a yoga teacher.

We are one of the most trusted and reviewed yoga schools in Rishikesh, rated 4.8 on Google and 4.6 on Tripadvisor from over 1,000 verified student reviews. Every class is led by E-RYT certified teachers with 10 to 15+ years of experience, bringing real depth, patience, and personal attention to every student.

Our 200 Hour Yoga TTC in Rishikesh is open to complete beginners and experienced practitioners alike. You do not need any prior teaching experience to join — just a genuine interest in yoga and a willingness to learn. Is This 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Right for You?

Yes — even if you have never set foot on a mat before.

Most people who enquire ask some version of the same question: Am I ready for this? The honest answer is yes. If you have maintained some form of regular physical activity for at least a month — yoga, any sport, gym training, or simple daily movement — and you genuinely want to learn, you are ready.

New to Yoga? You Are in the Right Place.

The 200 Hour Yoga TTC in Rishikesh at Rishikul Yogshala is designed to meet you exactly where you are. No prior yoga knowledge is assumed, and no student is left behind. By the time you leave, you will step into teaching with genuine confidence — not because we have rushed you through a checklist, but because the curriculum builds it week by week.

200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Student Practicing Yoga
This Course Is a Fit If You Are:
  • A beginner who wants a strong, lasting foundation in yoga.
  • A practitioner who is ready to begin teaching.
  • An experienced yogi who wants to deepen and refine their practice.
  • Someone without formal certification who wants proper, structured training.
  • Anyone seeking a Yoga Alliance RYT 200 certification recognised by studios and schools worldwide.
A Couple of Honest Notes Before You Join:
  • Prerequisite: We ask that you have at least one month of regular physical activity behind you before the course begins — yoga, any sport, gym training, or general movement all count. This is not a gatekeeping rule; it simply means your body settles into the intensive daily schedule more comfortably, and you get far more from the experience.
  • Had recent surgery? Please allow a minimum six-month recovery period before enrolling. We also warmly encourage a brief conversation with Bipin Baloni Ji, our lead instructor, beforehand, so we can make sure the programme supports where you are in your recovery, rather than working against it.

Why Choose Rishikul Yogshala for a 200 Hour Yoga TTC in Rishikesh?

16 years on — the same curriculum, the same standard, the same teachers.

We started this school in 2010 with one simple belief: that yoga, when taught properly, changes how a person lives. Not just how they move — how they think, how they breathe, how they handle a difficult day. 16 years later, that is still the only reason we are here.

A lot has changed in Rishikesh since then. Hundreds of new schools have opened, courses have gotten shorter, promises bigger, and certifications easier to hand out. We have watched all of it and stayed exactly where we were. Here is an honest picture of what that actually means.

1. Yoga Alliance RYS 200, ISO Certified & Government Registered

Rishikul Yogshala Rishikesh holds three credentials that matter: Yoga Alliance USA RYS 200 registration, recognition by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, and ISO certification. Very few yoga schools in Rishikesh hold all three — each one represents a standard that is checked, not claimed.

2. Running Every Month Since 2010 — 16 Years Without Interruption

Most yoga schools in Rishikesh opened in the last five to six years. We have been running monthly batches of 200 hour yoga teacher training since 2010, with the same curriculum and the same standard throughout.

3. 25,000+ Students Certified — From 80+ Countries

Since 2010, more than 25,000 students have completed their training here — from Spain, the USA, the UK, Germany, France, Australia, and 80+ other countries. That number is not a marketing figure; it is the result of 16 years of monthly batches and students who came back and sent others.

4. E-RYT Certified Teachers — Some Here Since the School Opened

Every teacher holds an E-RYT certification from Yoga Alliance USA with 10 to 15+ years of teaching experience, and several have been with the school since 2010. They show up early, stay late for questions, and remember students by name long after the course ends. They notice the small things — a shoulder that is compensating, a breath held too tight — because they have been doing this long enough that it is second nature.

5. Deliberately Small Batches — 20 to 25 Students

Every batch is kept small by design, not by default. By week two, your teacher knows your name, your practice, your strengths, and the specific things you need to work on. That level of attention does not exist in larger groups.

6. A Curriculum That Goes Well Beyond Asanas

The course covers Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga Vinyasa, Pranayama, Meditation, Yoga Nidra, Yoga Philosophy, Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, Shatkarma, Mantra Yoga, Ayurveda, Anatomy, and Teaching Methodology. Practical sessions include Ayurvedic cooking, Marma point therapy, and sound healing — all included in the course fee. Most schools list these as optional extras; here they are part of the training.

7. Located at Ram Jhula — Steps From the Ganga

The school sits in Narayan Kunj, Jonk Village, Ram Jhula — a quiet part of Rishikesh away from tourist noise, within walking distance of the Ganga. Students meditate by the river, attend Ganga Aarti at dusk, visit Vashistha Cave, and trek to Kunjapuri Temple at sunrise. These are not tourist excursions; they are woven into the rhythm of your 23 days.

8. Rated 4.8 on Google · 4.6 on Tripadvisor · 4.5 on Yoga Alliance

354 reviews on Google, 365 on TripAdvisor, and 446 on Yoga Alliance. These are not reviews from a single good month — they represent 16 years of students from across the world who trained here and took the time to write about it. Read them; they will tell you more about this school than we can.

9. Transparent, All-Inclusive Pricing

International students pay $1,200 for a shared room and $1,350 for a private room. Both include everything: training, 23 nights' accommodation, three Sattvic meals daily, yoga materials, and your Yoga Alliance certification — no hidden charges. Indian students pay ₹55,000 and ₹72,000 respectively.

10. Meet People From Every Corner of the World

Every batch brings students from different countries, backgrounds, and entirely different reasons for being here. Americans, Europeans, Australians, and Asians — all on the same mat, at the same hour, working through the same practice. Most arrive alone; most leave with people they will still be calling two years from now.

Life here follows its own rhythm — full but never rushed. You wake early, step outside to the sound of the Ganga, practise in the cool morning air, study through the day, and rest deeply at night. The simplicity is part of the practice: fewer distractions, more presence.

During the 200 hour yoga teacher training in Rishikesh, you share this rhythm with students from around the world. Most arrive alone, not knowing anyone; most leave with people they will still be talking to a year from now. The setting helps — the Himalayan foothills, the river nearby, and the quiet that Rishikesh holds even on its busiest days. Wednesdays are reserved for workshops and excursions, and Sundays are your time to rest, absorb, explore, and breathe.

Yoga Styles You Will Learn — Hatha and Ashtanga

Two styles that have stood at the centre of yoga for centuries.
200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Students Batch in Rishikesh

The 200 hour yoga teacher training in Rishikesh is built around two styles that have stood at the centre of yoga for centuries. One slows you down, builds your foundation, and teaches you to pay attention. The other challenges your body, sharpens your discipline, and shows you what consistency actually feels like. Together, they do not just make you a better practitioner — they make you a teacher who understands yoga from the inside out, not just the surface.

Hatha Yoga

Hatha Yoga is where your foundation gets built. Slower and more deliberate, every posture is looked at carefully, with real attention to alignment, breath, and what the body is actually doing. It is the style most students find they needed without knowing it.

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga

Ashtanga Vinyasa is a fixed sequence, breath linked to movement, one posture flowing into the next. It builds stamina and focus in a way that surprises most students — especially those who came thinking they were not strong enough for it.

You do not just learn how to do a posture; you learn how to explain it, demonstrate it, adjust it safely, and sequence it into a class that actually makes sense.

How This Course Supports Your Personal Yoga Journey

200 hour yoga teacher training in India changes more than your practice. Over 23 days, the steady routine, early mornings, mindful meals, and daily self-study quietly build something that stays with you: discipline that feels natural rather than forced.

You will grow more aware of your body and breath, and of the small patterns of the mind that yoga gently brings to light. Many students arrive unsure of themselves and leave standing a little taller — not because they became “advanced”, but because they finally trust what they know.

Whether or not you ever teach, you will carry home a stronger, more personal practice, a calmer relationship with yourself, and a clear sense of how to keep growing on your own.

YTTC Certification & Yoga Alliance Pathway

200 Hour Yoga TTC Certification in Rishikesh
200 Hour YTTC Certificate from Rishikul Yogshala Rishikesh

When you complete the 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh at Rishikul Yogshala, you receive a completion certification that allows you to register as an RYT 200 with Yoga Alliance USA — a credential recognised by studios and schools worldwide.

To earn it, you attend all sessions and complete a written and practical assessment toward the end of the course. The curriculum is structured to prepare you fully for both, well before you reach that stage.

Many students go on to complete our 300 Hour Advanced Training afterwards. Finishing both (200 and 300 Hours YTTC) qualifies you for the RYT 500, the highest level of registration with Yoga Alliance. But that is a decision for later — for now, this is where it begins.

Why Students Choose Rishikesh for Yoga Teacher Training?

There are places in the world where something has been practised for so long that it has soaked into the ground. Rishikesh is one of them. Sitting at the foot of the Himalayas, with the Ganga running through it, this small town in northern India has been a gathering place for sages, teachers, and seekers for over 5,000 years. It is not marketing language to call it the home of yoga. It is simply where yoga comes from.

The name itself carries history. Rishikesh derives from the Sanskrit “Hrishikesha”, meaning “Lord of the Senses”, a name of Lord Vishnu. It appears in the Vedas, the Puranas, the Bhagavad Gita, and the Hatha Yoga Pradipika not as a footnote but as a place of significance.

In the early 20th century, as India stepped into a new era, visionary teachers began founding ashrams here. The Sivananda Ashram opened in 1936. Parmarth Niketan and Yoga Niketan followed. These were not retreats; they were living centres of yogic education that drew students from across the world long before yoga became a global industry.

Then in 1968, The Beatles arrived to study Transcendental Meditation with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. What followed was a shift in global awareness; millions of people heard the word ‘Rishikesh’ for the first time and began to understand that this place held something real.

Today, Rishikesh hosts the International Yoga Festival and welcomes thousands of teacher training students every year. The town has grown. The essence has not.

If you are looking for a 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in India, Rishikesh is where most serious students end up, and Rishikul Yogshala Rishikesh is one of the most established schools in the city.

Career Opportunities After 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in India

An RYT 200 is a globally recognised credential — and the wellness world is growing faster than ever.

Most people come to this 200 Hours Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh, India thinking about teaching. What they don't realise until later is how many directions the certification can take them, far beyond standing in front of a yoga class. Once you are certified, here are some of the paths students have taken:

  • Teach at yoga studios, gyms, wellness centres, or resorts — locally or abroad.
  • Offer private sessions, in person or online.
  • Lead yoga retreats domestically or internationally.
  • Teach corporate wellness programs — a fast-growing field.
  • Build an online presence through classes, courses, or content.
  • Integrate yoga into an existing career in healthcare, fitness, education, or therapy.
  • Specialise in prenatal yoga, yoga therapy, or children's yoga over time.
  • Work as a yoga writer, content creator, or wellness blogger.
  • Continue with the 300 Hour Advanced Training and qualify for RYT 500.
  • Become a yoga teacher trainer yourself after gaining experience.

Most students do not follow just one path. The certification gives you the foundation — and where you take it is yours to decide.

Meet the Teachers Behind the Yoga Teacher Training at Rishikul Yogshala The right teacher does not just teach yoga — they change the way you see it.

At Rishikul Yogshala Rishikesh, every instructor is E-RYT certified by Yoga Alliance USA with 10 to 15+ years of hands-on teaching experience, and several have been here since the school began in 2010. They did not come to yoga as a profession; they came to it as a practice, and the teaching followed naturally from that.

What makes the difference in a classroom is not always the credentials — it is whether the person standing in front of you is genuinely paying attention. Ours are. They notice the student in the back who is holding back, they see when something is off in your posture before you feel it yourself, and they know when to push and when to simply let the practice do its work. For many who train here, it is the teachers they think about long after the course ends.

  • M.Phil. & PG in Yoga
  • 500-Hour Certified
  • Intl. Master Trainer
  • President, Yoga Association Rishikesh
  • Teaching since 2008

Bipin Baloni Ji founded Rishikul Yogshala Rishikesh in 2010 and has taught here since the very first batch. He did not come to yoga as a career — he came to it as a practice, beginning in 2008, teaching by 2009, and opening this school only after years of learning from some of the most respected teachers in Rishikesh, including direct students of B.K.S. Iyengar and teachers from the Himalayan Tradition.

His academic foundation is as grounded as his practice. He holds an M.Phil. in Yoga and a Postgraduate degree in Yoga from Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna University, has completed a 500-Hour Yoga Teacher Training, and is an International Certified Master Trainer. He specialises in Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga Vinyasa, Pranayama, Yoga Therapy, Anatomy and Physiology of Yogic Sciences, and Meditation, and has taught at schools and retreat centres across India and internationally.

Outside the classroom, he serves as President of the Yoga Association Rishikesh (also known as the Rishikesh Yoga Association/Alliance), the body that represents and oversees yoga schools and teachers across the region. It is not a title that comes with a registration fee — it reflects the trust the broader yoga community in Rishikesh has placed in him over 16 years.

Students who have trained under him tend to point to the same thing: he teaches from eye level, not from above. He brings experience and seriousness into the room, but also patience and a quiet sense of humour that makes the harder sessions easier to move through. He notices what others miss — a breath held in the wrong place, a shoulder slightly out of line — and corrects it in a way that actually makes sense. That combination of depth, attention, and honesty is what Rishikul Yogshala was built on, and 16 years later, it is still what holds it together.

FAQs – 200 Hour Yoga TTC in Rishikesh, India

Everything you need to know before you arrive, from course details to daily life at the Yogshala.
Q.Is this course of 200 hours beginner-friendly?

Ans. Yes, completely. You do not need flexibility or prior teaching experience. We simply ask that you have maintained some form of regular physical activity for at least a month before arriving - yoga, any sport, gym training, or general movement all count.

Q.Is the 200 hour yoga teacher training course worth it?

Ans. Yes, if you come with genuine curiosity and 23 days of real commitment. You leave with an internationally recognised RYT 200 certification and a practice that is genuinely yours.

Q.What is covered in the 200 hour yoga teacher training?

Ans. Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga Vinyasa, Pranayama, Meditation, Yoga Philosophy, Anatomy, Teaching Methodology, Shatkarma, Mantra, Ayurveda, and Yoga Nidra - taught practically, not just theoretically.

Q.What certification do I receive after completing a 200-hour yoga TTC?

Ans. You receive a Yoga Alliance RYT 200 certification, recognised by studios and schools worldwide. Rishikul Yogshala is a Yoga Alliance USA Registered Yoga School, so your certification is valid immediately upon completion, with no additional requirements.

Q.Is 200 hours enough to start teaching yoga?

Ans. Yes. RYT 200 is the recognised foundational teaching level - enough to teach beginner and general classes professionally anywhere in the world.

Q.What is the difference between a 200 hour and a 300 hour yoga TTC?

Ans. The 200-hour builds your foundation and gets you certified to teach. The 300-hour program goes deeper into advanced practice, yoga therapy, and methodology. You need a 200-hour certificate before joining the 300-hour programme.

Q.How much does the 200 hour yoga TTC cost in India?

Ans. Fees vary by school and location. In Rishikesh, residential programmes typically range from $1,200 to $2,000. At Rishikul Yogshala, the fee is $1,200 for a shared room and $1,350 for a private room, inclusive of everything. No hidden charges.

Q.What is the difference between RYT 200 and YTT 200?

Ans. YTT 200 is the yoga course. RYT 200 is the certification you get from Yoga Alliance after finishing it at a registered school. One is the training; the other is the credential.

Q.Can I join a 200 hour yoga TTC if I don't want to teach?

Ans. Yes, and you would not be alone. Many students who train here have no intention of teaching; they come for the knowledge, the discipline, and the experience of living yoga fully for 23 days. What you do with the certification afterwards is entirely your choice.

Q.How do I enrol in the 200 hour YTTC, and when do batches start?

Ans. Batches run every month throughout the year, starting on the 7th and ending on the 30th of the same month. To secure your place, a 20% advance deposit is required at the time of booking; the balance is payable on arrival. To enrol or ask any questions, WhatsApp or call us at +91-8433225327 or email contact@rishikulyogshalarishikesh.com.

Q.Is a 200-hour YTT physically demanding?

Ans. It is consistent rather than intense. You practise twice a day, morning and evening, plus meditation, pranayama, and classroom sessions. The first few days take some adjustment, but most students settle into the rhythm by the end of week one.

Q.How long does it take to complete a 200-hour yoga course?

Ans. At Rishikul Yogshala, it is a 23-day residential program, with batches starting on the 7th of every month. For more info, WhatsApp or call us at +91-8433225327 or email us at contact@rishikulyogshalarishikesh.com.

Q.Are there assessments or tests after the 200-hour yoga course?

Ans. Yes - attendance, a written assessment, and a practical evaluation toward the end of the course. The curriculum is structured to prepare you fully for both before you reach that stage.

Q.What comes after a 200 hour yoga teacher training?

Ans. After completing the course, you apply directly to Yoga Alliance USA for your RYT 200 registration, and Rishikul Yogshala guides you through the process. From there, the direction is entirely your own: teach professionally, continue with the 300-hour training toward RYT 500, or simply carry the practice forward.

Q.Is Rishikesh good for yoga teacher training?

Ans. Yes, there is no better place. Rishikesh sits at the foot of the Himalayas with the Ganga flowing through it - the birthplace of yoga, with thousands of years of teaching tradition behind it.

Q.What is the best time to do yoga teacher training in Rishikesh?

Ans. Any time of year. Summers are warm, winters are cool and crisp, and the monsoon is lush and green. Each season has its own quality, so there is no wrong time to come.

Q.What should I wear to yoga teacher training?

Ans. Comfortable clothes that let you move freely - loose pants, leggings, or shorts are all fine. Mornings in Rishikesh can be cool, especially from October to March, so bring a light layer for early practice.

Q.What is the refund policy at Rishikul Yogshala?

Ans. The 20% advance paid at the time of enrolment is non-refundable. However, if your plans change, you can shift your booking to any future batch within one year of your original start date.
